The Self-Determined Artist

There is a version of your creative life where the work you make and the life you live are not in constant negotiation with each other. Where the decisions you make about your art - what to make, how to share it, what to charge, who to make it for - come from you, not from the noise around you.

That version is not a fantasy. It is a practice. And it begins with knowing who you are as an artist.

Something is shifting. Artists around the world are reclaiming the authority to define their own work - what it means, what it is worth, and what it is for. Not the market. Not the algorithm. Not the trends moving through a feed. The artist. This is not a rebellion. It is a return. And it starts from the inside out.

The Self-Determined Artist is your entry point into that return. A space to get so clear on who you are, why you create, and what you value, that the decisions you make from here - about your practice, your livelihood, your creative life - are unmistakably yours.

What this is:

A focused, guided experience designed to bring you back to the centre of your own creative life. Through this program, you will take a clear-eyed inventory of where you are, reconnect with why you make work in the first place, and begin building a creative practice rooted in your values rather than your anxiety.

This is not a course about marketing. It is not a formula. It’s not a workshop. It is a process of discovery, and clarity - one that gives you a foundation strong enough to hold everything you want to build. When artists know themselves this deeply, they stop asking the world to tell them what their work is worth. They bring that knowledge with them.

That is how the terms begin to change.

Understand what is driving your creative decisions, and whether those drivers are actually yours

Identify the beliefs and habits that are keeping you stuck, scattered, or spinning

Clarify what you value, what you want, and what kind of creative life you are genuinely building toward

Begin to see art and commerce not as opposites, but as two things you can hold at once, on your own terms

Walk away with a clear sense of your artist identity and a framework for making decisions from that place

This is for you if:

You are making work but feel disconnected from it. You are working hard but not building toward anything that feels like yours. You want to stop reacting and start leading — your career, your creative life, yourself. And somewhere in you, you sense that your clarity matters beyond your own studio. That when artists stand in their full authority, something in the wider world must respond.

Investment: $495. This includes full access to the program materials, guided exercises, and a one-on-one session to ensure you begin this journey with clarity and intention.

The Wayfinding Sessions are built on one belief: that your creativity is not the obstacle to your success. It is the source of it.

You will:

Understand what is driving your creative decisions, identify what is keeping you stuck, and clarify what you value. Begin building a creative practice that is genuinely yours.

The Process:

A focused, guided experience - not a workshop, not a formula. A process of discovery and clarity that gives you a foundation strong enough to hold everything you want to build.

The Community:

Your program includes one year membership to The Artists Well Community - a space for ongoing connection, support, and conversation with fellow artists committed to leading from clarity.

ABOUT ME

As an experienced arts professional who has worked with hundreds of artists for over 20 years, I have seen the same struggles repeat themselves. I've seen some of the best artists work in obscurity and poverty, never getting their work seen in the right light, or at all - let alone making a healthy income from their art.

After working with artists, creating innovative art strategies for gov't and arts organizations, I have learned that it is not enough to just teach marketing and business skills and provide grants. Not unlike the work they create, the business of being an artist must be approached from the inside out.

Artists who have not done the inner work often make poor, uninformed decisions that cost them time, heart and resources. The truth is art isn’t just creative—it’s cerebral and for working artists, it's also legal and financial.

I created the Wayfinding Sessions—a transformative online program designed to reshape how artists grow their careers. This program guides artists through an inward process that will build a solid, sustainable foundation where you can make informed, profitable, and healthy decisions that benefit both you and your business.

In the Wayfinding Sessions, we will delve into the core of your artistic identity—clarifying your purpose, values, and aspirations to create the goals that will help you thrive - personally, creatively and financially.

Calling on this wealth of experience, I want to help empower YOU to bring your gifts to light, with confidence and ease.

What’s it like working with me?

"I have had the pleasure of working with Lynn on and off for many years and in many parts of the world. She is a fierce and capable art consultant and curator, with a fine eye for detail, strong support for her artists, and a graceful persistence when there is pressure to get a show ready for the public. Lynn brings a positive energy and years of experience to her work and in the five exhibitions I have done with her, I have watched her turn them into something special."

CHRISTOPHER PORTER CINEMATOGRAPHER, FILMMAKER & FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER

"Lynn's Wayfinding Sessions are what I've been seeking for many years, since moving to Canada from Mexico.

Thanks to her expertise in several areas of the arts, she has a panoramic view of the sector and knows the intricacies of building an art career. She also has the sensitivity to understand the struggles of being an artist, and also knows how to put in action very specific tasks that allow change and growth.

One of the most valuable aspects of this work is not only her unique inside-out  approach to finding my path to become the artist I want to be, coupled with the guidance of an experienced mentor."

DIEGO NARVAEZ, ARTIST

“When I first met Lynn, I was showing art in a local coffee shop. Lynn has given me invaluable advice that has played a big role in helping me grow my art career. I have since done a solo touring show to public galleries and museums, group and solo gallery shows, art festivals, international art fairs, cultural events… and I'm currently prepping my first international solo show."
